At Between the Lines, we use cognitive behavior therapy, dialectic behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, interpersonal therapy, and acceptance commitment therapy based on each patient’s individual needs and goals.

Individual Therapy

My practice uses evidenced based treatment modalities that are tailored to each client’s needs to ensure quality care is received and to increase positive outcomes.  The initial session is 75-90 minutes long to allow enough time for assessment, education and questions. Feel free to bring a support person to the initial session.

Each additional session is 50 minutes long. I encourage weekly appointments dependent on each individual and their needs.

Experiential/exposure sessions are also available after completing an initial session. This may happen over the course of our work together as specific situational skill deficits are identified. (issues worked through in “real life” together vs. being discussed and planned out in my office and implemented on your own.

Group Therapy

CBT- Cognitive Behavior Therapy

This is a focused-process group that includes psychoeducation and skill building. In this group you will learn how your thoughts make a big impact on your feelings and your behavior. You will learn to identify thoughts that could be getting in the way of your success. You will also learn how to cope with, block and shift those thoughts enabling you to get closer to achieving your goals. At completion of the group sessions, you will have tools to help you continue making changes in multiple areas of your life.

DBT- Dialectical behavior Therapy (18 and up)

This is a focused-process group that includes psychoeducation and skill building. DBT has four core components to help you learn how to manage the dialect of life; 1) mindfulness, 2) distress tolerance, 3) emotion regulation; and 4) interpersonal effectiveness. At completion of the group sessions, you will have learned many ways to appropriately manage distress as well as skills to communicate your needs in an effective way.

CBT Body Image- (under 15, 16-18,18-24 and 25 and older)

This group will focus on body image- what it is, how it affects your life, and how to improve it. With increasingly influential advertisement promoting specific messages on one’s physical appearance, these messages can do harm over time. The goal of this group is to work on combating the negative psychological effects it has on you. The treatment modality that is used and taught to group members is cognitive behavior therapy. At completion of the group sessions, you will have learned many skills to continue improving your body image.

Additional Service

If you or your loved one need help in a specific area such as going to the dentist, clothes or food shopping, eating at a restaurant, or going to a birthday party, but are only interested in these types of sessions, a plan can be developed to help meet the identified goals after the initial session.
